…When
deep roots and love for this land become palpable through
realities and these have good memory, and when it comes
to SIMONASSI LYON, memories go back to the 17th century.
And to another country... ...
The story begins back in Canelli, a small village in the
province of Asti, in the Piamonte region, Italy. By growing
vines on the slopes of the hills, the members of the Giovine
family -direct ancestors of Jorge Alberto Simonassi Lyon-
were shaping up their future... and their future, accompanied
by the passage of time and distance, would be fulfilled
in another small village: Rama Caída.
Neighboring the city of San Rafael, in the province of
Mendoza, Argentina, this noble land follows the overall
characteristics of wine regions country wide, that consist
in their preference for mountainous, arid and temperate
areas, scarce rainfall and relative humidity.
Specifically, Rama Caída has
a particular microclimate, very appropriate for the development
of vines, that allows
harvesting a healthy grape, a fundamental requirement
for noble -like the land- wines. This authentic garden
of poplars, fruit trees and what it looks in the peak
season as the aggressive outburst of green shades in the
vines –plain evidence of the daily efforts of Man-,
spark off another evidence among visitors: the desire
of possession... It is precisely in this spot where SIMONASSI
S.A. possesses 68 hectares of vineyards under the name
of Viñedos SILVIA, whose optimal level of production
is the result of proven experience in traditional management
systems, wisely adjusted to up-to-date farming techniques.
